Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information I collect through carerscompass.com.au, how I use it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to the current coming-soon page and the wider site as it launches.

Who I am

I'm Diane Gatto, the founder of Carers Compass. Carers Compass is a registered business name of Performance Leaders Australia Pty Ltd (ACN 146 585 391), a company based in New South Wales, Australia. Where this policy says "I" or "me", it means the company – with me as the person responsible for how your information is handled. You can reach me at diane@dianegatto.com for any question relating to your data.

Although small Australian businesses are not always required to comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), I choose to handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles regardless.

What I collect

Right now, if you join the waitlist, I collect the following:

  • Your first name (or the name you enter)

  • Your email address

That's it. I don't collect payment information, health information, or anything sensitive about you or the person you care for.

As Carers Compass grows – the community care directory, the care cost calculators, and the difficult conversations simulator – this policy will be updated to reflect any new information collected, and I'll let subscribers know before that happens. In particular, the conversation simulator will be covered by its own clearly explained privacy arrangements before it launches, built on the principle that what you rehearse is yours: practice conversations will not be stored on our systems.

Why I collect it

Your name and email are used to:

  • Let you know when the site goes live

  • Send you resources and updates for family carers navigating aged care

  • Reply to you if you contact me directly.

I don't sell your information, share it with advertisers, or pass it to third parties for marketing.

How it's stored

Subscriber data is held in Systeme.io, the platform running this page and my email list. Systeme.io acts as my data processor, meaning they store the information on my behalf under their own security and privacy standards. Their servers are located outside Australia (primarily in the EU), which means your data may be stored internationally. Where personal information is stored or processed overseas, I take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with Australian privacy law, and by subscribing you consent to this transfer.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies — the ones Systeme.io needs to make the page work and remember basic preferences. I don't use tracking cookies for advertising. Your browser lets you decline cookies if you'd prefer; the site will still work.

Your rights

Wherever you're based, you have the right to:

  • Ask what information I hold about you

  • Ask me to correct anything that's wrong

  • Ask me to delete your information

  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time (there's a link at the bottom of every email)

  • Withdraw your consent.

If you're in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you additional rights, including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you're in Australia, you can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

To exercise any of these rights, email me at diane@dianegatto.com and I'll respond within 30 days.

How long I keep your information

I keep subscriber information for as long as you're subscribed and for a reasonable period after you unsubscribe in case you resubscribe or need me to confirm anything. If you ask me to delete your information, I'll do so unless I'm legally required to keep it.

Data breaches

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is entirely secure. If a data breach happens that's likely to cause serious harm, I'll notify affected subscribers and the relevant authorities in line with the Australian Notifiable Data Breaches scheme and, where applicable, EU law.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, I'll update the "last updated" date at the top and, for anything significant, notify subscribers by email. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
